The options

When you’re deciding which option to choose, just think about how long you have until you want to draw your pension, and how much risk you’re willing to take.

Generally the more risk that you’re prepared to take, the greater the potential return. However, this also means a greater potential for loss. You just need to choose an option that suits your investing and retirement goals.

There is no extra cost for using these option. You just pay the product charges for the SIPP and plus the ongoing charges for the fund which is 0.2%.

  • Once you’ve invested in a ready-made option, responsibility for managing it rests with you. So you need to be sure you have the time, and confidence, to do this. The funds we’ve chosen in each one are guidance only, not a personal recommendation.
  • Investing in funds or the stock market opens the opportunity for making your money work harder, but the value of investments can go down as well as up, so you might get back less than you invest.
  • Investing tends to work better over the longer term (through the ups and downs of markets) so investing for 5 years and over improves your chances of better returns, although this isn't guaranteed.
